A Miami man named Eric Popper faces two felonies after he opened fire in his care while on the highway.
Popper was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and firing a deadly missile. Dashcam footage that surfaced shows the 30-year-old man firing off a dozen shots through the windshield of his car at another vehicle. When asked by police, Popper said he was returning shots to a vehicle that fired at him. However, the other driver said he didn’t have a gun and that he threw a bottle at Popper because the man cut him off.
After the shooting, Popper reportedly called 911 and said, “I was just shot at… My car was hit. I returned fire back at the individual.” Despite the shooting, no one was injured in the incident. Popper turned himself in voluntarily following the shooting and resigned from his position as a Miami Beach civilian fire inspector. Stay tuned for more updates.
