From his barn burner of a fight with Shaquille O'neal back in 1999 to publically declaring that he wants to punch Draymond Green in the face during a broadcast of the 2018 NBA Playoffs, Charles Barkley has never been afraid of a physical confrontation. The Hall of Fame power forward was an intimidating presence, on the court, during his sixteen-year playing career. But as the old saying goes: There's always a bigger fish.
Apparently his old nemesis, Charles Oakley had to remind him of that during an NBA players' association meeting in the late 1990s. During the meeting, Oakley reportedly punched Barkley but he clarified during a Toronto Star interview that that was not the case even though a physical altercation did occur.
"I did, however, slap the sh** out of him," Oakley said before adding, "Someone starts it. I end it."
Oakley also touched on Barkey's strained relationship with Michael Jordan and hinted at the former MVP falling out of favor with other players from their era.
"He’s not close with Michael [Jordan] no more. I don't know who he's really on [good] terms with now," Oakley stated. "So I know he wants to come to the cookout and play 18 holes with us. But we're not inviting him no more. He's out. You act up, you go stand in the corner with one leg in the air...That's Charles, in the corner of the playground by himself. You can see him because he's kind of big."
These quotable gems from the former frontline player of the New York Knicks were all a part of a discussion centered around his new memoir "The Last Enforcer." A book where he addresses his highly publicized feud with Charles Barkley and implies that their days of quarreling with one another are far from over.
