In 2019, Sony announced that a reboot of ‘The Boondocks’ with Aaron McGruder was on the way. The news was announced at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Now, ‘Boondocks’ star Cedric Yarbrough, known for his role as “Tom DuBois,” has said Sony Pictures “pulled the plug” on rebooting the series.

During an interview, Yarbrough said, “I hate to say this, but…the show is, right now, not coming back. I don’t know if this is breaking news, but we’ve been wanting to do the show.” He continued saying, “Sony…they decided they’re going to pull the plug. So, I don’t know. Hopefully, maybe one day we’ll be able to revisit. If we don’t, then that’s what that is, but, I wish the show was coming back.” News of this comes after it was revealed that ‘Boondocks’ star Regina King’s son passed away. Along with that, the series was allegedly up in the air following the loss of comedian John Witherspoon, who was the voice of “Granddad.” Watch above.
