Update 02/27/2022 5:32pm:
When the capitol riots took place in January 2021, Adam Johnson paraded Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lecturn around while walking through Capitol hall. Johnson was eventually identified and arrested for his part in the riots. Now, it appears Johnson has received sentencing for his crimes.
In November 2021, Johnson pleaded guilty to entering and remaining in a restricted building. In his case, federal prosecutors asked for a 90-day sentence. Johnson was instead sentenced to 75 days in prison.
U.S. District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton said Johnson made “a mockery” of the events that were happening by grabbing Nancy Pelosi’s podium and actively participating in the attack. Walton said he couldn’t look the other way on the viral display put on by Johnson, saying the man deserves to be incarcerated because of that. Johnson will reportedly receive time served and will have to pay $5,000 in fines.
