Two men have been arrested for the murder of Memphis rapper CEO Bezzal (pictured above), who was shot and killed in Washington D.C. on June 14, 2020 at just 21 years old.

Marcel Gavin, 34, was charged with first-degree murder while armed, and John Wilkins, 32, of Temple Hills, Md., was also charged with first-degree murder. According to the Washington Post, Gavin was arrested at Dunbar High School, where he assists students with behavioral health issues.

CEO Bezzal's mother, Lanita Jefferson, revealed that her son, whose real name is Albert Smith Jr., was in the city shooting a music video. She reacted to the news of the men arrested for her son's murder, stating, "He was a good, cool kid. Everybody loved him. He was one of a kind."

CEO Bezzal's father, Albert Smith Sr., revealed more information about the night his son was killed, stating that he came to D.C. with friends and his older brother. He also revealed that his son was involved in a high-stakes dice game, which police confirmed.

CEO Bezzal's mother added that she was told by police and her surviving son that the rapper was targeted in a botched robbery with shots fired and nothing being taken. CEO Bezzal's father said that police told him that someone "just started shooting."

Albert Smith Sr. reacted to the news of the men's arrest, stating, "Time helps. For the most part, we’re just praying, hoping to get some justice."

CEO Bezzal leaves behind his parents, seven siblings, and a 3-year-old son.
