According to reports, YNW Melly canceled his request for a speedy trial as his lawyers take the extra time to prepare the case.
Complex reports Judge Andrew L. Siegel determined jury selection will begin on April 4 and trial proceedings will begin roughly around May 23.
Melly's legal team decided against a speedy trial due to incomplete witness depositions, in addition to the state still trying to locate witnesses including Melly’s ex-girlfriend Mariah Hamilton and her mother.
