On Thursday, ex-officer Brett Hankison was acquitted on all charges related to the Breonna Taylor case. Hankison was the only officer charged in connection with the fatal shooting in March 2020.
Hankison's attorney Stewart Mathews said his client was doing his job during the botched raid. "Justice was done. The verdict was proper and we are thrilled," said Mathews.
Had he been convicted, Hankison faced one to five years in prison for each charge.
While prosecutors said they respected the decision, they declined to comment to the media.
