Russell Westbrook has had a rough year with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. While the former MVP has dealt with on-court woes all season, the off-court drama is starting to pick up. Last week, Westbrook's wife got into a Twitter exchange with Skip Bayless, who famously refers to Russ as "Westbrick."
Following the Lakers' most recent loss on Monday night to the Spurs, Westbrook addressed some of his wife's recent comments opening up about how much the criticism has taken a toll on her and their children. Not to mention, Nina Westbrook revealed they'd received "death wishes" over the year.
Westbrook echoed his wife's sentiments during his postgame sit-down with the media. “I 100% stand behind my wife and... it’s not just about this year,” Russ said. “Right now, she’s reached a point and my family has reached a point to where it’s really weighing on them and it’s very unfortunate just for me personally because this is just a game. This is not end all be all. When it comes to basketball I don’t mind the criticism of missing and making shots but the moment it becomes where my name is getting shamed, it becomes an issue.”
