He explained that the land for the 3-mile city was purchased himself, but Akon added that the government officials in Senegal are providing the basic infrastructure for the city, including its own police force. Akon then spoke about how the city will be ran off of "Akoin" cryptocurrency, which he said is a way to get rid of the French-owned currency in Senegal. Akon then spoke about how people will be able to visit Akon City in 2024, with plans for people to live there starting in 2026.
