This week has not been the best for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Since Monday, he's fired eight of his generals over a few tactical losses, a video clip of a Russian tank convoy getting ambushed went viral on social media, his government has been feuding with Facebook, and thousands of his own citizens have been vacating his country out of guilt by association.

On the heels of so much adversity, it appears as though a former pupil of Putin has decided to air out her displeasure with her native country's decision to invade Ukraine. In an emotional Instagram post, Aliia Roza, a former Russian spy who fled her home country for the United States of America after her husband was jailed years ago, shared her feelings about the recent conflict that has pitted her friends and family on both sides of the war against one another, making it abundantly clear that she too opposes Putin's recent actions.

"My heart breaks for the situation in Ukraine right now," said the former spy-turned-American citizen. "I was born in Russia, trained in the Russian military as a Spy and at age 18 witnessed the horrors of war in Chechnya. What I witnessed and the experiences I went through left me in pieces but I told myself every day I would do something to speak out and help others that are trapped in dangerous situations. After going through years of therapy to deal with the trauma of working as a Russian spy, I want to use my voice to promote peace. The world needs peace. We should all love one another. Russian people don’t want war, they don’t support this war. This is Putin's war and there are no winners in this war. We must use our bodies and join together to speak out and push for everlasting world peace."
