Despite surges in coronavirus cases, many spaces in the United States have been rolling back COVID-19 mandates. The removal of COVID-19 mandates hasn’t slowed the rise in cases, and it appears even former leaders of the country like Barack Obama aren’t exempt from the impact of the virus. Via Facebook, Obama revealed he contracted COVID-19.

“I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days but am feeling fine otherwise,” said Barack. He continued saying, “Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. It’s a good reminder that, even as cases go down, you should get vaccinated and boosted if you haven’t already to help prevent more serious symptoms and giving COVID to others.” Barack Obama isn’t the first former U.S. official to be affected by COVID-19, as Colin Powell passed away last year from COVID-19 complications
