Former NBA star Michael Beasley sat down with former NFL players Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor on "The Pivot Podcast," where he got candid about being distrusting of people.
Around the 21-minute mark, Beasley explained that at one time, he found out that his mother, his financial advisor and other people were stealing from him. Beasley added that he tried speaking to his family members about the bigger picture when it came to his money, but Michael revealed that they couldn't comprehend.
From there, Michael revealed that he has been isolating himself, stating, "I don’t leave the house. I play basketball, and I go home. I don’t care what y’all do no more. I try to talk to my kids as much as I can. I’ve reached out so much, so many times to different people and it’s just, I have to die with some kind of dignity."
Michael also stated that he feels like there are a lot of athletes that have needed help or showed vulnerability in public, only to be made fun of in the public eye. Speaking more about mental health, Michael stated, "Do I have to be in Delonte West’s shoes to get help? No disrespect to Delonte West or people in his position. But, what does it take to do the right thing? My whole life I asked for help. People called me crazy."
The conversation ended with Michael speaking about the loss of his mother and watching her take her last breath, which led to the podcast hosts showing their love and support.
