According to the New York Post, 22-year-old Valerie Rosario is accused of luring a 24-year-old man to a Bronx apartment on Feb. 7, where he was beaten and tortured for 24-hours.
New details emerged about the incident, as it was revealed that the victim met Rosario at the Bronx apartment under the guise that they were going to be romantic. After entering the apartment, at least two men with guns came in after the victim, with one of the gunmen hitting the victim over the head with a pistol.
The men then undressed the victim, put him in a bathtub, and poured flammable liquid on him. the men then allegedly set the victim on fire and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife. The men then called the victim's brother from a blocked number on a FaceTime call, where they cut the victim on video and demanded, "Give us $100,000 or we will kill him."
The victim was then taken to a van while wrapped in a moving blanket with tape over his mouth and nose and driven from the Bronx to a location in Queens. Detectives spotted one of the suspects, Javier Vargas, 24, in the van holding a knife. Vargas was arrested on arrested Feb. 7 and charged with robbery, assault, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment.
The victim was then transported to a local hospital in stable condition, while Rosario and another suspect, Michael Candelario, were arrested and charged with attempted murder, robbery, assault, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.
