GLC, Kanye's childhood friend and frequent collaborator, took to Instagram to defend Ye amid backlash that he's been getting for his Instagram posts aimed at Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson, DL Hughley, and other celebrities. Kanye's posts have led to controversy and him being temporarily suspended from Instagram and dropped from the Grammy performance line-up.
GLC believes that Kanye's posts about not wanting his daughter North on TikTok and calling out Kim for allegedly not letting him see his kids show that Kanye is fighting for his family. In an Instagram post from Sunday (March 20), GLC wrote, "[Ye] is the ultimate father. He fights for the betterment of his children. I understand that we all have our vices & issues but would you like a dude in & out the rehab in the midst of your children? He aims to have his kids at church & form a relationship with God. He doesn’t want his little girl on social media with make-up on, singing about how she’s in love with an emo girl."
GLC added, "The way he is being portrayed in the media is disheartening on many levels especially when it comes to our own people aiming to bring him down. It makes me wonder would the headlines read the same if he wasn’t a Black Man in America?"
He ended his message by stating, "Ye is a hero, who has made great contributions to humanity as a whole. We should lift him up in his time of need! He is my brother & I love him!"
