On Monday (March 28) night, Will Smith released a public apology to Chris Rock after walking onstage at the Oscars the night before and slapping Chris Rock over a joke made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Will took full accountability for the incident, stating, "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

After it was reported that Chris declined to file a police report with the LAPD, rumors started circulating that Chris apologized to Will and Jada. A statement was even floating around the internet, which many believed was written by the famed comedian.

However, reps for Chris Rock state that he has yet to publicly acknowledge the situation. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Senior Film Editor Rebecca Keegan spoke to Rock's team, which led to Keegan tweeting, "Chris Rock has not yet issued a statement. There is a statement going around purporting to be from Rock that is not from him, per his team. It's the one that starts, 'As a comedian it can be difficult to understand...'"
