Lil Nas X was up for five Grammy Awards on Sunday (April 3) night, but he walked away empty-handed, which he addressed on Twitter. He was up for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Music Video, for his debut album, Montero.
The "Montero" singer tweeted, "can’t believe i lost all my grammys. i am now no longer gay!" Lil Nax X previously won two Grammys for his viral hit "Old Town Road" before he publicly came out as gay. Ahead of Sunday night's show, Lil Nas X acknowledged losing some of the categories he was up for, writing, "lost all my grammies so far. let’s celebrate that!"
Despite not winning any of his categories, Lil Nas X gave a memorable performance of "Dead Right Now," and "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)." Jack Harlow joined Lil Nas X for their collaboration, "Industry Baby," and they lit up conversation on social media by swinging their microphones around their crotch at one point in the performance.
During the show, Lil Nas X shared an inside look by posting pictures alongside Doja Cat, SZA, and Lady Gaga. You can check out some of his posts above.
