Meek Mill has been very vocal about issues he’s been having within the music industry for the last few years. Previously, the rapper addressed a comparison to Tupac, then laid out his problems with his record label. Meek said he hasn’t seen any money from the label, saying, “I ain’t doing no more music under a label I don’t make off that…. ima wait it out.” Now, Meek has hit social media once more with a scathing critique on first-week sales numbers usually revealed a short while after a buzzing artist drops a new project.
Via Twitter, the Philadelphia rapper was candid about the revealed numbers, telling fans and artists not to put energy into the first-week sales. “We don’t go off first week numbers ….Labels run that s**t …, and most of the numbers be fake,” said Meek. He continued saying, “You can clearly see all the artist that’s killing s**t! Focus on your brand and impact!! They crashing the rap game out …. that everybody drop on Friday bs …. Wtf is that?”
Meek then questioned why artists would want to sell their music or product on the same day as other artists. “Why would you want to sell your product on the same day as the competition… for a billboard look? Lol, what does that do for the artist?” said Meek. Take a look above.
