Update 04/22/2022 1:36pm:
Mike Tyson went viral after a man was seen harassing him on a plane, which caused the retired boxer to put hands on him. Now, it appears the ‘victim’—Melvin Townsend III, has a long criminal record.
The 36-year-old has been convicted of numerous crimes, including trafficking stolen property, possession of controlled substances, burglary, grand theft, and fraud. It was noted Townsend served time in prison twice. One time was for 20 months, and the other time was for 15 months.
The incident that has found the man in the news saw him constantly messing with Tyson, who was seated in front of him. Things got shaky on the Miami-bound flight after Tyson’s team claimed Townsend threw a water bottle at the boxer. From there, Tyson let off some hits that resulted in the man being bloodied up. Tyson and Townsend got off the plane and were held up by cops. However, Townsend said he didn’t want to press charges, so both men were let go. Take a look at Townsend’s mugshot above.

TMZ obtained video footage of Mike Tyson repeatedly punching a passenger on a flight bound for Florida out of San Francisco International Airport.
The incident happened on Wednesday (April 20) night, and a witness on the plane claims that Tyson was cool with him, his friend, and the rest of the passengers after boarding the flight. The witness added that Tyson took a selfie with him and his friend, who was overly eager about speaking with the boxing legend.
Tyson allegedly became annoyed with the friend of the witness speaking in his ear, and he told the guy to chill out. However, Tyson got fed up when the man didn't comply, and Tyson turned around and punched the man repeatedly in the face. Following the altercation, Tyson exited the plane.
The man who was punched reportedly sought medical attention, and he also spoke to the police. As of now, Tyson hasn't been arrested or charged.
