The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recently concluded the 'fan voting' portion of the preliminary qualifications for its class of 2022. Detroit-based rapper Eminem finished second in the fan voting, trailing only the legendary new wave band from England known as Duran Duran. While the fan's ballot is not the decisive factor as to whether or not a recording artist/musician is inducted into the prestigious music museum, it will play an important role this year.

According to reports, Duran Duran secured first place on the fan ballot with 934,000 votes, while Eminem rounded out the top two spots with 684,000 votes. Some of the other big names in music who received a significant amount of fan votes this year were Pat Benatar, Dolly Parton, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, A Tribe Called Quest, and Fela Kuti.

If Eminem is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, he will become just the seventh hip-hop act to accomplish such a feat. An official announcement regarding the class of 2022 is expected to come sometime this month.
