Vicki White, assistant director of corrections for Lauderdale County in Alabama, is wanted for allegedly helping Casey Cole White, who was being held on murder charges, escape from prison.

Vicki White is accused of permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree, which was announced by  Sheriff Rick Singleton on Monday (May 2) during a press conference. Singleton stated, "We know she participated, whether she did that willingly or if she was coerced, threatened somehow to participate in the case, not really sure. We know for sure she did participate."

According to reports, Vicki White told staff members at the prison that she was taking Casey Cole White, who is no relation, for a mental-health evaluation at the county courthouse. This didn't raise concern from any of her fellow officers, as it was Vicki's job to coordinate the transport of inmates. However, it was later discovered that Casey didn't have an appointment for a mental health evaluation, and Vicki also violated protocol by transporting Casey without any other officer present.

The patrol vehicle the two were in was found at a nearby shopping center parking lot. US Marshal Marty Keely stated during a press conference, "We consider both of them dangerous and in all probability both of them are armed."
