Reports surfaced recently noting 18-year-old Payton Gendron of Conklin, New York, allegedly shot and killed ten people in what is believed to be a “racially motivated hate crime” in a Buffalo supermarket.
The attack found the gunman approaching the building in armored tactical gear and a helmet that had a camera. The camera on the helmet was reportedly used to live-stream the shooting to Twitch. Following the mass shooting this past Saturday, Gendron was placed in front of a judge in an arraignment in Buffalo City Court.
While in court, Gendron’s public defender pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges against the alleged shooter. Following the plea, the shooter was remanded without bail. Gendron is scheduled to appear in court once more on Thursday. Special agent Stephen Belongia said the FBI is investigating the mass shooting as “a hate crime and a case of racially-motivated violent extremism.” Stay tuned for more updates.
