Janet Jackson celebrated her 56th birthday in Las Vegas following the Billboard Music Awards, where she presented Mary J. Blige with the Icon Award.
Janet was surrounded by her friends, including Usher, Anderson .Paak, Jimmy Jam, Nelly, and Bryan-Michael Cox at the On The Record at Park MGM. Also in attendance was Janet's former boyfriend, So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri. The pair dated from 2002 to 2009, and Dupri even helped produce Jackson’s ninth studio album, "20 Y.O."
Janet has referred to Jermaine as her friend in recent years, and Dupri even appeared in her Lifetime documentary, Janet, where he admitted that his infidelity led to the demise of their relationship. Dupri admitted that dating Jackson made him "more attractive to other women."
Jermaine also opened up about dating Janet in a separate interview, where he stated, "You can't play with a rich woman. You can't play with a poor woman, but you can't play with a rich woman. Not them games. [She has] six famous brothers... Not no little regular dudes and she's heard every lie that a man could possibly tell."
