More details are being released about the 56-count grand jury indictment involving Young Thug and Gunna, along with 26 others.
According to ABC News, lyrics from Young Thug's songs will be used as evidence in the case, where the rapper is facing charges of conspiring to violate the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participating in street gang activity. Young Thug also got additional drug and weapons charges after police searched his home following his arrest.
Court documents detail YSL associates allegedly wore or displayed symbols related to the Young Slime Life (YSL) gang in music videos posted on social media between 2016 and 2021. Some of the songs listed include "Anybody," "Take it to Trial," "Ski," and "Slatty." Prosecutors argue that the lyrics were used for the goal of "Preserving, protecting and enhancing the reputation, power, and territory of the enterprise [YSL]."
Lyrics from "Slatty" were included in the document, including, "I killed his man in front of his momma, like fiick lil bruh, sister and his cousin/I shoot out," and "Kill 'em, not leaving a trace."
Young Thug has been accused of renting a car to kill Donovan "Big Nut" Thomas, which Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis says sparked "the back and forth of gun violence and murders that have occurred have probably been in excess of 50 since 2015."
