Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez’s rivalry has been well-documented, with the two boxers fighting each other twice before. The last fight found Alvarez becoming the victor, and it appears the boxers have set a date for their next bout. 

Canelo and GGG agreed to fight in a third match years ago, and now it has been revealed they are set to battle on September 17, 2022. The fight is being billed as ‘Canelo vs. GGG III: The Trilogy.’ Stay tuned for more updates.

According to reports, Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin have agreed to a trilogy bout, which is set to take place in September 2020. Previously, Canelo and GGG’s first fight ended in a draw, while Alvarez walked away with a victory in the second fight.

News of this fight comes after Canelo’s fight with Billy Joe Saunders was hit with an extended postponement.

A year ago, middleweight fighters Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin were hit with a split decision in their boxing match, which left fans upset. Now, in their second match-up, Canelo Alvarez has bested GGG.

This bout comes after Alvarez failed drug tests in February 2018 which caused their May rematch to be delayed. Once the results came in for their fight, Alvarez spoke about his process and win, saying “I showed my victory with facts. He was the one who was backing up. I feel satisfied because I gave a great fight. It was a clear victory."
