J. Cole’s time in the music industry found him building an empire, but now it appears the rapper is giving basketball a real shot. Previously, it was reported that Cole signed a contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Since then, it appears the rapper has made his debut with the team, as spotted by Drake.
Via Instagram, Drake posted a screenshot of J. Cole suited up in the team’s uniform while on the court. Drake’s caption found him saying, “It’s real @scarboroughshootingstars my brother just checked in 🤞🏽.” The team is owned by Nicholas “OVO Niko” Corino, and he spoke to Complex, revealing that Drake helped Cole land the spot on the team.
Corino said “You know, Dreamville and OVO are family. Drake had a birthday party in L.A. last year. The conversation was, ‘I heard you have your team.’ It organically grew from there.” Take a look above.
