Law enforcement in Henderson, North Carolina has issued multiple warrants in wake of a chaotic shootout that took place during broad daylight at Gate City BP Service Station near Interstate 85 on West Andrews Avenue.
The shootout took place around 4:15 pm in front of multiple eyewitnesses. Video surveillance shows a man casually stepping out of a white sedan while holding a large gun in plain sight, moments before he motioned towards the service station. At that point, gunshots rang out in his direction, prompting him and his associate to return fire. A bystander can be seen stumbling out of the service station, as he desperately makes his way to his vehicle in order to avoid the shootout.
When Mayor Eddie Ellington caught wind of the incident he shared his thoughts while also indicating that something needed to be done about gun violence in the imminent future.
"This is another unfortunate situation when firearms fall into the wrong hands with irresponsible and careless results," he said.
Following the exchange, police revealed that one person suffered injury after being shot in the foot, they have since been released from the hospital. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
