Florida governor Ron DeSantis has made nationwide headlines for his decisions related to the state, as he previously signed a controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill into effect. Now, the governor is reportedly threatening to put Child Protective Services on parents who take their children to drag shows.

Previously, a video went viral of a kid who attended a “Drag the Kids to Pride” drag show at a Dallas gay bar this past Saturday. Since then, DeSantis has commented on the video, saying he may urge Child Protective Services for Florida to look into parents who take their children to drag shows. DeSantis was asked by reporters if he would support legislation that punishes parents for taking their kids to performances like that. “We have child protective statutes on the books. We have laws against child endangerment,” said the Governor.

DeSantis continued saying, “It used to be kids would be off-limits. Used to be everybody agreed with that. Now it just seems like there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age-appropriate.” After the video went viral, DeSantis said, “That is totally inappropriate. That is not something children should be exposed to. And so, we probably, we may have the ability to deal with something like that if something like that happens.”
