According to reports, the attorneys representing the family of Terry Carter have argued that Suge Knight should be ordered to pay $81 million for the 2015 fatal car crash.

This marked the first time that attorney Lance Behringer put a dollar figure to the Carter family's loss during the wrongful-death trial. “Dying on the concrete floor alone at Tam’s Burgers was not a natural death,” Behringer said as he moved toward Carter’s widow and two daughters. “He was taken from these three women.”

As a result, Behringer and the Carter's legal team argued that those surviving Carter should be awarded a million dollars for each of the 27 years he was likely to live. “Nobody’s comfortable talking about money. But that’s what we have to do,” he added.

In response, Knight's lawyer said to the court: “Imagine somebody punching you, chasing you again, punching you again, pointing a gun at you, threatening to kill you,” he said. “You have to decide, what would you have done then.”

While claiming not to be “challenging the worth of Mr. Carter’s life,” David Kenner told the court that he is arguing that his client not be held liable. “With all due apologies to Ms. Carter and the Carter family, I ask that you render a verdict of not liable.”
