Previously, President Joe Biden addressed the Supreme Court overturning the Roe V. Wade landmark decision that protected abortion rights. Now, Biden has addressed gun control and signed a new landmark bill to strengthen gun control.
The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is reportedly the largest reform to be passed by Congress in almost 30 years. It comes after the massive backlash towards the government following the Uvalde mass school shooting.
While speaking about the bill, Biden said, “Time is of the essence. Lives will be saved. From Columbine to Sandy Hook to Charleston, Orlando, Las Vegas, Parkland, El Paso, Atlanta, Buffalo, Uvalde and for the shootings that happen every day in the streets. How many times have you heard that: 'just do something, for God’s sake just do something'?” The bill will reportedly incentivize states to pass red flag laws, and make background checks on people between the ages of 18 and 21 much stronger.
