According to reports, five alleged gang members accused of murdering Chicago rapper FBG Duck now have a set trial date.
The five people reportedly carried out a daytime shooting that resulted in the death of Duck. U.S. Judge Martha Pacold spoke on the case, saying, “We’re looking at a long trial. It is a substantial amount of time no matter how you look at it.” U.S. Attorney Jason Julien says the trial should last about four weeks. Defendants Marcus Smart, Christopher Thomas, Tacarlos Offerd, Kenneth Roberson, and Charles Liggins are facing charges including assault in aid of racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, and firearms violations.
The trial is set to begin on October 2, 2023.
