Previously, Memphis rapper GloRilla signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG label. The news was revealed via a video where Gotti showed the rapper and her self-proclaimed “ratchet a** friends” hopping on a private jet, where GloRilla was met with $500,000 in cash along with a contract. Since then, everyone has commented on the new signing, including Russell Simmons.

While speaking to TMZ, Simmons was asked about Gotti’s latest signee and if he had any advice for the young woman. Simmons said, “If it was up to me, I’d say don’t waste it all on junk.” He continued, “Kids have to experience what they do, I hope [she] saves some of it… Operate from a place of needing nothing, a calm space. And the junk that you get when you become a star takes you off course, and you lose yourself. And so, [in] a couple of years, you’re not as talented because you’re invested in stuff that doesn’t make you happy. But the art is the thing that makes you happy.”

He concluded by saying, “She has to remember that writing and performing and being an artist is what makes her happy.. the results of her labor are just results.” Watch above.
