It's been nearly three months since controversial Florida-based rapper, Foolio (aka Charles Jones) was arrested on a felony charge for failing to pull over promptly, resisting arrest, and fleeing. However, in the wake of the newly released body camera footage, it appears as though the Jacksonville native may have been the victim of mistreatment at the hands of local law officials.
The body cam footage clearly depicts the "Dead Opps" rapper cooperating with police during the April traffic stop, as he calmly stepped out of his vehicle with his hands up and walked backwards towards the cops.
"Put your hands down, man!" Shouted one of the officers on the scene
"Put your godd*mn hands down! What's wrong with you?!" Added another cop. "Turn around!"
"Come back here, come by the sound of my voice," a cop said.
Foolio complied and put his hands behind his back, where they remained when the officers grabbed him and proceeded to restrict his hands with cuffs. At that point, one of the officers told the young rapper to "stop resisting," when he clearly wasn't.
This shocking new revelation has landed the officers who were on the scene in hot water, along with Jacksonville's legal system as a whole, because Florida's Assistant State Prosecutor, Leah A. Owens, showed up during this traffic stop and instructed law enforcement on how to conduct the arrest; which might not have been lawful (according to Foolio's lawyer).
