Brittney Griner recently made an appearance in court this past Friday, and her attorney told the judge that she was prescribed the cannabis she was found with for medical purposes. The lawyer for Griner—Maria Blagovolina, went on to say, “The attending physician gave Brittney recommendations for the use of medical cannabis.”
Blagovolina reportedly submitted tests to the court, which showed Griner undergoing testing to ensure she complied with anti-doping regulations. The results from Griner’s test show she didn’t have any illegal substances in her system. The lawyer said, “The permission was issued on behalf of the Arizona Department of Health.”
Detention for Griner has been authorized to go through December 20. The next hearing for Griner is scheduled for July 26.
