Houston is mourning the loss of Darian Lewis, a well-known and up-and-coming DJ known as DJ D Baby, after the 23-year-old fell from the balcony of an apartment building last week.
Lewis reportedly fell from a balcony on the 13th floor down to the 9th-floor pool area on July 4. The investigation is ongoing, but police revealed that it appears as though Lewis' death was an accident.
According to The Daily Beast, Nishia Jackson, Lewis' girlfriend, revealed in a Facebook post that she was on the balcony with Lewis when she fell. Jackson also addressed people questioning if she was involved with Lewis' death, writing, "There’s no way I could have pushed her over the edge," adding that Lewis "was only able to get over because she climbed on to the furniture." Jackson added, "I would have literally had to pick her up & throw her over which is absolutely absurd! WE WERE NOT FIGHTING!"
After falling, Lewis was in the hospital for a week before succumbing to her injuries. Her mother, Terri Lewis, confirmed that her daughter had passed away in a Facebook post. She wrote, "My youngest and only daughter has transitioned. please pray for the family, my heart is heavy and broken."
