Part 10: Brandi Davis on Getting 9-20 Years, Boyfriend Taking Down Half the Kingpins in Chicago
Part 1: Former Queenpin & BMF Affiliate Brandi Davis on Her Dad Being a Major Drug Dealer

--------

In this clip, Brandi Davis explains why the judge who presided over her legal predicament decided to drop her state case in lieu of her federal case. In the end, this gesture cut off nearly a decade of her sentence, which made her happy. As the conversation moves along, she reveals that her father, Charles, eventually received a compassionate release from law enforcement (because his health was deteriorating due to dementia), which allowed him to return home to live with her mother. This ultimately enabled Brandi to schedule multiple video visits with her dad while she was still in prison, including an emotional farewell where they both had tears streaming down their faces.

As the interview moves along, Davis reveals to DJ Vlad that they were conducting the interview on the six-year anniversary of her release from prison (she was released back on May 3rd, 2017). From there, the former BMF associate talks about the years that she lost with her son while she was locked up, including his first day of school, football games, etc. She then talks about the difficulties of maintaining a respectable degree of parenthood from behind bars before discussing the bond that she shares with her son now. As the conversation nears a conclusion, Davis recalls transitioning from a halfway house to the real world, where she landed her "first real job" at a car dealership.

Later, Brandi Davis and DJ Vlad discuss the role that snitching plays in the drug game and the way that she rationalized being ratted on by her ex-lover, JT, while she was locked up. The former BFM associate says that she gained perspective about the drug game and doing time from a woman who went on to become her "prison mom" while she was behind bars named Matilda. Davis said that because Matilda had it so much harder than she did, she learned to appreciate the fact that she only had to do a ten-year bid in prison. From there, she reveals the things that she learned in prison and the qualifications that she obtained, such as becoming a certified firefighter and a licensed cosmologist.
