In terms of public perception, Suge Knight is perhaps one of the most infamous American gangsters of the last 30 years. His alleged exploits include multiple restraining orders from gangsta rappers, dangling Vanilla Ice from a balcony, and strongarming Death Row Records away from Dr. Dre. When Dr. Dre vacated his executive position, back in 1996, with the record label that he co-founded with Suge Knight, his former business partner seemingly made it his mission to impede his progress and intimidate every significant rap artist that he tried to introduce to the world under his new record label, Aftermath Entertainment, including the likes of Eminem and 50 Cent. During the heyday of Dr. Dre's comeback (shortly after the release of The Chronic 2001), he and his protege, Eminem, teamed up to deliver a brand new artist to the mainstream by the name of 50 Cent. His debut album went 9X platinum, and the music video for the lead single, "In Da Club" helped establish the Queens native as a megastar worldwide.

Over the years, it's been revealed that Suge Knight pulled up to the video shoot for "In Da Club," unannounced and uninvited, in an attempt to strike fear in the hearts of Dr. Dre and his two most successful artists. But what has not been disclosed until recently was that Eminem geared up with a bulletproof vest on and was ready to exchange haymakers with Suge Knight if it came to that...At least that's how Bang 'Em Surf remembers it. The former G-Unit artist was also on set that day, and he too was prepared to do battle with the legendary CEO of Death Row Records to protect 50 Cent.

"I already knew if I blew Suge head off, I’m playing like I’m scared for my life, ’cause remember Suge had that image already, so I knew if I killed him I would’ve done like five years," Bang 'Em Surf recalled. "That’s nothing, and I would have been playing like I was scared for my life. This Suge Knight...Eminem was outside with them. Dre wasn’t outside. 50 wasn’t outside, but Eminem was outside. I guess they had to protect they breadwinner. Eminem put on his vest and ran back outside with us. Shout out to Eminem."
