Bobby Shmurda has been doing much press following the release of his project ‘BodBoy.’ One of the stops he made found him joining ‘Ebro In The Morning’ to speak about his new label, GS9 Records.
The conversation found Bobby speaking candidly about the transition from being signed to a label as opposed to his current independent status. Bobby immediately jumped into explaining his success as an independent artist. “I made $10,000 a month off of my first song I put out, ‘They Don’t Know,’” said the rapper. The song was his first independent release, and he noted, “That was the most money I’ve made off of anything.”
Bobby was then asked about the money he made from the success of his 2014 hit “Hot N***a” as opposed to “They Don’t Know.” Shmurda said, “Well, you know I got a check from ‘Hot N***a’ at the end, but this was like...every month they just give you a check. So it’s different when you’re independent.” He then said the money for “Hot N***a” came after years passed, stating, “You ain’t getting no check for years when you’re on a label.” Take a look above.
