In the wake of increasing gang activity in the Inland Empire (located in Southern California), multiple police agencies in the area, including Fontana, Redlands, and Rialto, recently joined forces to execute a massive operation in San Bernardino called SMASH (San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums). The sweep was reportedly ignited by an incident involving the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old girl at the hands of a gang member while she played in her front yard. This instance is just one of many homicides that have taken place in San Bernardino this year. Therefore, approximately 80 law enforcement officers assembled in the city last Friday to conduct a gang sweep. The operation resulted in 30 felony arrests and 12 misdemeanor arrests, along with the recovery of 16 firearms, two stolen vehicles, and various narcotics, including PCP, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

As of now, the names of the suspects involved in the arrest have not been released to the public. For more on this story, click the link below.
