Angela Means opened up to VladTV in 2018 about securing a role in Friday as one of the fan-favorite characters, Felicia. While she had a more joyful outlook on the legacy of the character and film, the comedic actress had a more grim view of the role during her sit-down with Comedy Hype.

During the discussion, Means opened up about the harsh comments she continues to receive from Friday fans. She tearfully expressed her shock in the remarks she's received over the years from viewers. Believing the Felicia character was misunderstood and dismissed, Means questioned why society outcasts people like Felicia.

"I was really feeling her emotions, I was feeling a lot of fear, a lot of things that happened to Felicia," Means said. "Maybe people were tired of her. Why was there so much hate for such an obviously beautiful woman? She's kind, you didn’t hear her using any profanity…Why would they be so unkind to a family member? Why would they be so dismissive? Why would no one defend her? And I've asked this question for 30 years. Why is it so easy for us to dismiss each other like that? When people come at me and even to this day, I'll see people saying, 'Bye, you dirty b***h, you dumb b***h.'"
