Megan Thee Stallion’s legal battle with Carl Crawford and his 1501 Certified Entertainment continues to ramp up, as the "Hot Girl" is now seeking $1 million in damages in her suit against the label.
Attorneys for the rapper say Megan Thee Stallion has “satisfied all option periods” laid out in her contract with the label. Her latest project ’Traumazine’ and her 2021 effort ‘Something for the Hotties’ “both constitute an ‘album’ as defined in the parties’ recording agreement.” However, the label fired back, saying Megan didn’t fulfill her obligations since the 2021 project doesn’t count as an album for numerous reasons.
Reports noted the $1 million in damages requested by the rapper comes from her saying she fulfilled her obligations and should be paid for an “entirely one-sided” contract. The rapper says 1501 allegedly withheld royalty payments for her music. 1501 Certified says the rapper still owes “many millions” to the label for merchandising, touring, and endorsing her. Stay tuned for more updates.
