In a state where drug trafficking cases and murder have run amuck this year, a Florida man named Ranier Figueroa set out to obtain something far less illustrious in a crime attempt. On July 21st 25-year-old reportedly shot and robbed a college student over a single dollar. According to reports, Figueroa walked by his victim while he was sitting on the front steps of an apartment building located near the intersection of 8th Street and Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach. The victim was chatting with a friend when Figueroa approached them and asked for a dollar. So, they graciously obliged his request but just went, they began to hand Figueroa the money, ambition set in, and he decided he wanted more. Therefore the suspect pulled out a gun with a laser on it before instructing them to hand over all of their valuables. They complied, but the gunman shot his victim in the chest and took off running. He secured a dollar from the architecture student, along with the wallet of his friend.

Miami Beach Police detectives caught up with Figeroua about one month later at the Extended Stay America hotel In  Miami Springs. The Hialeah native has been charged with armed robbery and attempted murder. He is currently in jail without a bond. As for the victim, he was put in a medically induced coma shortly after being rushed to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
