Part 1: Former Russian Spy Jack Barsky on How He was Approached to Join the KGB

In this clip, Jack Barsky opened up about being approached to be a KGB spy, and he explained that he was never directly asked, but he was given jobs. Jack explained that he was being tested to see what it takes, and after a year and a half, he was given an offer by the head of KGB in East Germany. Jack stated that he was blindsided at the time, thinking that he was going to a meeting, and he added that he was on his way to having a successful career as a professor. Moving along, Jack spoke about being sent to Moscow after joining the KGB, where he learned English. From there, Jack reacted to Putin joining the KGB the same year that he went to Moscow, and Jack went on to explain why Putin was a “mediocre agent.” He then explained how Putin was able to rise to power in Russia, and Jack spoke about being sent to Canada to learn about North American culture.
