In this clip, Pressa spoke to Shirley Ju about his brother being convicted in 2014, and he explained that “life goes on,” and Pressa stated that he was just looking forward to seeing his brother upon his release. Pressa then revealed that his music started gaining traction when his brother was locked up, and he explained that his brother was guiding him on the ways of streaming. Pressa added that his brother was locked up with a rapper named Cousin Charlie, who Pressa had known for years, and Pressa explained that his brother was getting information for Charlie about making money through streaming. Pressa then spoke about putting his music on Tunecore and making a few hundred at first, but he added that it soon rose to around $50,000 a month. That money helped Pressa invest in his career and move away from the streets, and Pressa went on to speak about the pros and cons of being independent. Pressa detailed how marketing, booking fees, and brand deals are different when you’re signed to a label, and he went on to speak about signing with Sony.
