In this clip, Dr. Myron Rolle revealed that he didn’t ball out like most pro athletes when he got his first check but instead took his parents out to dinner. He reflected on being named the second smartest pro athlete in 2010 and is still a bit salty over not being named No. 1. Dr. Rolle also talked about his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played briefly before pursuing becoming a neurosurgeon.
The former Tennessee Titans defensive back explained the thought process behind his decision to leave the NFL for medical school. Dr. Rolle said that he was inspired by a book written by Ben Carson called "Pediatric Neurosurgeon" as a child and that he was also motivated to become a neurosurgeon so that he could help current and former NFL players who dealt with problems related to concussions. From there, Dr. Rolle talked about being a mentor for young aspiring Black neurosurgeons and why that is so important to him. Lastly, Dr. Rolle detailed his journey through medical school and how he prepared himself physically to carry out surgical procedures.
