In this clip, Hassan Johnson started off speaking about joining “Flatbush Misdemeanors,” and he explained that the auditioning process was different because of the pandemic. Hassan explained that he knew the “Drew” character after reading the script, but he didn’t want to waste his energy on taping his audition. Hassan then revealed that he talked Dan Perlman and other people associated with the show into watching him audition over Zoom. Dan then chimed in to explain the importance of Hassan’s character in the show, as he wasn’t originally included in the web series. Hassan then explained how his character, Drew Hill, is a villain in the show, and Dan explained the complexities of the different characters.

Moving along, Dan spoke about playing a teacher addicted to Xanax, and he explained that he drew from his personal experiences for his show. Dan clarified that he wasn’t on the level of his character, and he explained that sometimes people don’t understand that prescription medications can be dangerous. Dan added that he was studying education in college as a backup if his stand-up career didn’t pan out, which he also drew on for his character. From there, Dan spoke about the show getting picked up for a second season, and he explained that he thought it would be a hit because of Hassan being a name that people watch. Hassan and Dan then explained how people are speaking about the show after season 2, which has led to more people going back and watching the first season.
