About forty years ago, a group of underaged Salvadorian migrants assembled in Los Angeles to protect themselves from the onslaught of gang activity that surrounded them. They became known as MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha), and in the decades that followed, they would evolve into one of the most feared criminal organizations in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. With a network just as long as their gruesome reputation, it would not be long before the members of MS-13 landed on the radar of the United States government. The FBI has investigated illegal activity associated with MS-13 all over the world, from Spain to North Carolina, and they have issued numerous indictments to disrupt their infrastructure. In a recent revelation to the public, the FBI stated their belief that MS-13 is looking to fortify their ranks in Long Island (New York) amidst a string of indictments for murderous activity in the area.

"We are making a positive impact in the communities once terrorized by these MS-13 members, but we are seeing signs the gang is attempting to rebuild," FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Field Office, Michael Driscoll, said in a statement. "Along with our law enforcement partners on our Long Island Gang Task Force, we remain determined to prevent that from happening, but we cannot do it alone. We need the public to remain vigilant and contact us with any information they have to prevent another rash of MS-13 murders."
