Eminem and Snoop Dogg were engaged in one of rap's unlikeliest feuds in 2020. Considering the rappers' mutual friends and collaborators, the Hip Hop community was torn after both legends took shots at each other in songs and interviews. Eventually, the two would reconcile, and Eminem recently revealed to his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg that it was Dr. Dre's brain aneurysm that brought the two back together.
"You know, me and Snoop had our little issue, and then when that thing happened with Dre—the brain aneurysm thing—we were like, 'Bro this is stupid,'" Eminem said before explaining the root of their issue.
While many believed their problems stemmed from Snoop leaving Em out of his Top 10 list, Slim Shady explained that the rift went back as far as his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP.
"'This is stupid as hell to be feuding right now,' so I don’t remember if I called him or he called me, but we talked it out, and I think that there was a miscommunication at the time in regards to him being on my album The [Marshall] Mathers LP, [on] 'B***h Please II,'" he added. "I think he had wanted to do something with me and maybe gave you the idea or something, and you said something to the effect of, 'Well let’s hear what the song is first.' … I think he said that the way he took it was kind of like, 'I don’t f**k with him.'"
Paul Rosenberg responded by saying he didn't remember exactly how the message was communicated and said he probably talked to someone from Snoop's team, who later relayed the message in a way that rubbed the West Coast legend the wrong way. Nevertheless, Eminem's breakdown of the old feud confirms Daz's 2021 remarks, where he said a denied feature was the reason for Snoop's rift with the Detroit icon.
"Back in the day they did ["B**** Please II"]," Daz said at the time. "When I was talking to Snoop one time, he said that he had asked Eminem and them to get on his album and they told him no. And Snoop felt some type of way. 'I did all this and all that and they tell me no?' And you know Snoop like, 'Don't nobody tell me no.'"
Since ending the feud, Eminem and Snoop Dogg have collaborated on "From the D 2 the LBC," and performed with Dr. Dre during the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show.
