According to reports, Jay-Z’s Team Roc and their advocacy led to the arrest of former Kansas City police officer Roger Golubski, who is now facing federal civil rights crimes. Golubski was arrested for crimes he allegedly committed over 20 years ago, as two women claim he sexually assaulted them “while acting under color of law.”
The crimes allegedly went down between 1998 and 2002, and Golubski reportedly raped the women multiple times. The indictment against the disgraced former officer includes allegations of kidnapping as well.
Team Roc managing director Dania Diaz spoke on the matter, saying, “We continue to stand in solidarity alongside the people of Kansas City, Kansas, who have been patiently for justice and accountability. The arrest of Roger Golubski is a significant step toward creating a safer community, and we applaud the Department of Justice for their commitment, diligence, and thorough work on this investigation.”
Golubski was previously named in a lawsuit involving a wrongfully convicted man named Lamonte McIntyre, who spent 23 years in prison for murder. The suit said Golubski tried to force the man’s mother into having sex with him. When she refused, he framed the man for the crimes.
If convicted, Golubski could face life in prison.
