Akon was recently approached by TMZ and gave some shocking information on plans he and Michael Jackson had before the King of Pop’s passing.

The singer and producer said he and MJ planned to open up many music-focused schools throughout Africa. However, things didn’t pan out upon the passing of the prolific pop star. Akon said the music universities they had in mind were set to give students instruments, a structure on how to approach creating, and advice for the music industry to improve their skills. Both artists reportedly discussed the amount of undiscovered talent in Africa.

Before any plans could happen or any ground was broken, Michael Jackson passed away in 2009. Despite the loss, Akon noted he is still looking to make the music universities happen. Watch above.
