In February of 2020, Dwyane Wade's middle child, Zaya, went public with her preferred sexual identity, "straight trans." Since then, the 15-year-old has been one of the main topics of controversy when it comes to the transgender community, along with Lia Thomas. This has prompted vehement opposition from celebrities such as Boosie and Young Thug and support for celebrities such as Cardi B. Needless to say, the internet can be a cruel place for anyone, regardless of race, gender, social views, or political alignments. So, when Zaya took to Instagram to share a video clip from a recent photo shoot with her followers, her Dad went out of his way to block all negative comments from appearing before explaining his actions on Twitter.

"For Zaya’s mental health and privacy, we’ve decided not to allow the hate into her comments," the Miami Heat legend wrote. "Thank you for wanting to spread and send her love."

The three-time NBA champion also reposted Zaya's aforementioned viral Instagram clip on his Twitter page.
